With a background in haute couture Hanna Klingseisen spent 15 years in the textile sector working for different couture ateliers before founding her own label in 2012, designing ready-to-wear collections, custom made bridal gowns and evening dresses until 2017.
After her two daughters were born in 2018 and 2020 she left the fashion sector and started to transform her collected couture fabrics into artworks - to break the cycle of constantly producing new clothing.
Her creating process is focused on interpersonal matters that are in a larger scale also fundamentally relevant to society as a whole.
Textiles act as layers in between human beings, as well as their boundaries, as items of clothing, blankets, curtains or tents. The textile represents the first impression of an encounter - it determines similarity or differentiation, empathy or doubt. These daily life topics, which unfold upon closer inspection into global and quintessential themes, have an important influence on her work.
Currently her work is on display at Stephanie Thatenhorst Interior, the VOR Studio and her own munich based atelier.
